Vikrant Massey Says He Isn’t “The Ideal Role Model” While Discussing Haseen Dillruba, OTT Stardom And More

Vikrant Massey talks about his dislike for superstardom and demi-god worshipping of heroes while asking fans to just like his work and not idealize him as a person.

The charismatic actor Vikrant Massey‘s latest release Haseen Dillruba has finally premiered on the OTT platform Netflix. Starring Taapsee Pannu and Harshvardhan Rane in lead roles alongside Massey, the film is a mystery thriller written by Kanika Dhillon and helmed by Vinil Mathew. In a candid conversation with a Pinkvilla, Virant talked about his film, OTT stardom, how he doesn’t appreciate the demi-god worship of actors, and more.

Vikrant Massey on Haseen Dillruba

Talking about why he chose Haseen Dilruba Vikrant said, “The world of Haseen Dillruba is an out and out pulp fiction world. It’s a husband-wife love story that goes off track”. The actor also claimed that he was never offered a part as such and that definitely piqued his interest. He also talked about how he’s never really played a grey character, so when he got the opportunity, he “quickly jumped on the bandwagon”. Moreover, he also added that the “wonderful” crew and cast of the film were another reason why he chose to do this film.

The shift from theatres to OTT

When asked about his thoughts on the recent shift of audience to OTT, Vikrant said, “Every change is a cycle and we need to adapt to it. Over the last 2 years, the consumption pattern has definitely changed and we have all adapted quickly to it”. The actor also claims that the medium doesn’t matter for him as long as he gets to connect with his audience and tell a tale.

About OTT stardom

The reporter then asked Vikrant about his thoughts on OTT stardom. To this, he replied saying that he really hopes no such concepts ever arise. He said, “Not just OTT superstar. I mean I am someone who just does not associate myself or identify with this superstardom or this almost demigod worshipping we do”. In fact, the actor also said that he’s nobody’s fan and that he never obsesses over anyone. The actor also had a small request for his fans. He says, “Like me for my work not for me because I am flawed like everyone else. I am not the ideal role model.”
