With a variety of films that captivated fans and brought in substantial box office reports, 2024 proved to be an incredible year for Indian cinema. Even though another year is almost over, Bollywood has had a lacklustre year. Of course, a few big-budget releases made it worthwhile, but those box office successes are extremely rare and can only be counted on one hand.
In contrast to the first three quarters, the final quarter of 2024 is the best, and this is mostly due to “Pushpa 2.” However, this quarter was greatly enhanced by the November Diwali releases. Lets provide you with a thorough review of the previous year’s box office performance, with a focus on the final quarter from October to December.
List of hit Movies of 2024!
There were not many releases this year that were successful at the box office. ‘Fighter’, an action movie opened the year as a mediocre hit. Then came “Munjya” a horror movie and a thriller movie “Article 370,” which were little marvels that did generate some revenue because they were also implemented on a modest budget.
‘Crew’ and ‘Teri Baaton Mein Uljha Jiya’ are two other drama films that did mediocrely well. Naturally, though, the biggest hits came in the fourth quarter with “Singham Again,” “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,” and now “Pushpa 2.” According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “I would argue that this year has been a mixed bag. I’m not disputing that some films have performed well, but Pushpa 2 is the biggest surprise.
Nobody anticipated the kind of numbers that are coming in, especially in the second week and on weekdays, but it was assumed that it could get off to a very fantastic start, an outstanding start. Whatever you call it, I believe it to be a hurricane, typhoon, or tsunami.

It wouldn’t be incorrect to argue that 2024 has also been the year of tiny to mid-budget films, such as Yami Gautam‘s Article 370, given the success of all the films produced on tight budgets. Prasanth Varma’s HanuMan, which had a total budget of about 25 crores, dazzled everyone with its visual effects. The approximate return on interest was an astounding 241 per cent. I learnt that over 30 theatres that had closed during the COVID-19 pandemic reopened to show our movie and made enough money to last a year. Varma informed us, “It is now my duty to give them another movie as soon as possible so they can sustain more.”
The franchise element In India, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule has been a huge hit, particularly the Hindi-dubbed version. Franchise power shaped the success of Stree 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 in 2024. There is always an advantage when it’s a second or third part,” argues BB3 director Anees Bazmee, refuting the argument about the industry’s dependence on franchise and nostalgia. Goodwill is something that a movie has. However, you must make a decent movie because it will be hard to get another part in the franchise if you don’t. It carries a lot of responsibility. When a single segment performs poorly, the entire movie suffers—ek poora franchise khatam ho jaata hai.

Both South Indian and Bollywood films had a significant impact; in fact, their nationwide releases frequently outperformed those of pure Hindi films. These viewers are still dominated by South Indian cinema, as demonstrated by films like Pushpa 2 and Kalki 2898 AD. 2024 was a year of fierce rivalry that raised the bar for Indian filmmaking.
