Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is all set to present her eighth budget on February 1. Budget 2025: Date and Time
The Union Budget 2025 will be presented on February 1, 2025. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will deliver the budget speech in the Parliament, starting at 11:00 am. Despite February 1 falling on a Saturday, the Budget will take place as scheduled, ensuring continuity in the tradition of February 1 as ‘Budget Day’.
Where To Watch Union Budget 2025
The Finance Minister’s budget speech will be telecasted live on the official channels of the Parliament- Sansad TV and Doordarshan. The live Budget 2025 telecast will also be available on their respective YouTube channels. Additionally, it will be streamed live on the official YouTube channel of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the Parliament website, and other government platforms. Parliament Budget Session Dates
The parliament’s budget session will be held from January 31 to April 4, 2025, in two sessions. The first session will start on January 31 with President Droupadi Murmu’s address to a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha followed by the tabling of the economic survey. The first part of the budget session will have nine sittings from January 31 to February 13. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will respond to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address and Sitharaman will reply to the discussion on the budget.
Parliament will then break for recess to examine the budget proposals. The second part of the sessions will start on March 10 to discuss the demands for grants of various ministries and complete the budgetary process. The session will conclude on April 4. The entire budget session will have 27 sittings.
Pre-Budget Consultation Meetings
The pre-budget consultations chaired by Union Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman for the forthcoming Union Budget 2025-26 concluded in New Delhi on January 6, 2025. The consultations were held over a month-long period and started on December 6, 2024.
In the course of the in-person consultations, more than 100 invitees across 9 stakeholder groups, including experts and representatives from farmer associations and agriculture economists, trade unions, the education and health sectors, MSME, trade and services industry, economists, financial sector and capital markets, as well as infrastructure, energy and urban sector, participated in the meetings.
From January 8, 2025, citizens were encouraged to share their suggestions and ideas for the Union Budget 2025-26 on the MyGov platform with the aim to make the budget-making process more inclusive with the spirit of ‘Jan Bhagidari’.
