Plot of Ashok movie: Gripping tale of action and love

Ashok is a mechanic who has been expelled from his home because of his hot temperament. He falls in love with Anjali, a talented but insecure dancer. He fights off a notorious gang led by his enemy KK, who seeks to trap Anjali. Ashok’s friend Rajiv tries to save Anjali, but KK has him killed. Ashok retaliates by killing KK's brother, following which the gangster plans to kidnap his sister. Will Ashok be able to overcome KK’s might and win back his father’s forgiveness? NTR Jr. showcases his acting prowess as Ashok, while Sameera Reddy’s enactment of Anjali is a perfect fit. Prakash Raj, the award-winning actor, has been excellent like always as Ashok’s father, while the versatile Sonu Sood blends perfectly into his KK avatar, as does Rajiv Kanakala in his role as Rajiv, Ashok’s friend. 

This Kannada romantic movie is directed by Surender Reddy and written by Vakkantham Vamsi. Surender Reddy has also overseen the screenplay, while the dialogues have been written by Gopimohan. The action film is produced by Valluripalli Ramesh under the aegis of Maharshi Cinema production company. Mani Sharma has composed the music for Ashok under the Aditya Music label.

The romantic movie Ashok was remade into a Bangladeshi film titled Babar Kosom, which was released in 2007.

Given the intense violence shown in the movie, Ashok received an "A" rating. However, the censor board advised several edits, including the removal of some violent scenes, which gave the movie a "U" certificate for a video release.
