Upon learning the Brahmins' action against Jagadamba, Gurudeb suggests Rani give huge amounts of donation to the Brahmins on the day of the 'Narayan Puja', which angers Mathur. The next day, Mathur refuses to partake in the 'puja'. He fumes at the fact that the Brahmins are treated well by the Das family. Rani gets pleased when Jagadamba defends Mathur for not being present in the 'puja'. Gurudeb tells a confused Mathur that he has adopted a crooked way to bring the Brahmins in the Marh house.
