5 Detectives Of Indian Fiction World That You Should Know If You Liked Satyadev In 47 Days

The latest ZEE5 Telugu film, 47 Days has impressed audiences with its unique climax. Starring Satyadev Kancharana, Pooja Jhaveri and Roshni in the lead roles, the film is a murder mystery revolving around a suspended cop. Despite being suspended, Satya turns into a secret detective to uncover a high-profile murder. Through the course of it, he also finds the reason behind the untimely death by suicide of his wife.

Vikram Aur Betaal

Let’s go back in time to one of the earliest series of detective stories. Vikram and Betaal are two iconic characters from Indian mythology. Based on Baital Pachisi, Vikram Aur Betaal consist of 25 tales, narrated by Betaal, the ghost to Vikram, the noble king. These stories were written by a Kashmiri poet, Somdev Bhatt, in the 11th century.

Chacha Chaudhary

Most people who grew up during the ’90s will have a special place for Chacha Chaudhary. The universe of Chacha Chaudhary was created in 1971 by Pran. It is said that the creator was inspired by the philosophies of Chanakya. Chacha Chaudhary was a super-smart middle class Indian who solves every problem around him within seconds. The people around Chacha, like Sabu, Dag Dag, and the others continue to be our childhood favourite.

Byomkesh Bakshi 

Created by Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay, in 1932, Byomkesh Bakshi has come to be an iconic Indian detective. The stories of Bymokesh are narrated in several books by his friend named Alok. His adventures include a series of murders that are set in a boarding house. In 2015, late-actor Sushant Singh Rajput also featured in a film named on the titular character.

Feluda

Every film buff knows the legendary man of Indian Cinema, Satyajit Ray. The multi-faceted filmmaker wrote 35 short mysteries which revolve around Prodosh Chandra Mitra, better known as Feluda. Eventually, Feluda came to be an iconic character, too. These stories are often set in exotic locations and are humorously narrated by Feluda’s cousin name Topshe. The two cousins are hailed to be India’s Sherlock Holmes and James Watson.

Lalli 

At last, we needed to end the list with a unique woman who managed to make a mark. Written and created by Kalpana Swaminathan, Lalli is a stylish, 60-year-old lady with grey hair who solves the crime in the city of Bombay. Despite serving her period, Lalli continues to help cops in solving crimes, unofficially. Lalli’s off-beat and interesting adventures are narrated by Lalli’s niece.
