Kalyana Vaibhogam stars Meghana Lokesh as the identical twins Nithya and Manga, and VJ Sunny as Jai. Manga, who now lives as Janaki, only has her kids whom she can call family. Divya and Abhi are her whole world, but there are times where she fails to look at the larger picture, affecting the children’s well-being. Here is why we think that she needs to work on her skills as a mother!

Take for instance the time when she punished Abhi a little too harshly. Abhi had disrespected Jai, and Janaki had told him to stay out till the time that he doesn’t apologise to Jai. However, it started to rain soon, and Janaki did not call him back, home. This resulted in Jai falling unconscious and having to be rushed to the hospital. Moreover, Abhi also never ended up apologising to Jai, so the whole punishment yielded no results.
Another more recent example is when she left Divya alone in a crowded fair. She told Divya to wait for her because she would be back soon and then ended up taking part in a lengthy ritual. This got Divya very worried, given that she is a little girl, and soon the little girl was walking alone all around, looking for her mother.

While Janaki’s heart was in the right place this whole time, this was potentially harmful to the kids. In the case of Abhi’s example, she could have tried to reprimand him in another way or called him in when it was raining. While he was fine in the end, his condition could have turned out to be much more harmful. On the other hand, if Divya wasn’t found by Sawrupa, she could have been kidnapped, or could have continued to be in distress.
