ED Grills Tollywood Star Tanish Over Drug Case

Troubles are far from over for Tollywood star Tanish and are only mounting. A 2017 drug case is coming back to haunt the former Bigg Boss Telugu 2 contestant.

Eyes of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is firmly fixed on Tanish and 10 other Tollywood celebrities in this nearly four-year-old case.

Tanish, who finished third in Bigg Boss Telugu 2, appeared before the ED in the above case and faced their barrage of questions for around seven hours, reports indicate. Incidentally, Tanish, also a popular Television celebrity, has starred in Tollywood flicks that include Nachavule, Ride, Telugabbai, Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda, and Nakshatram.

ED, according to reports, fished out his chats with Calvin, a drug peddler from 2016-17, giving them cause to issue him a summons and quiz him about his involvement.

Tanish has vehemently denied any link to the drug racket and told the ED sleuths that he has neither bought any drugs nor paid money for these narcotic substances. Tanish, however, according to reports, told the ED sleuths that Calvin had organised events to promote his films.

Coming out after an exhausting grilling session, Tanish told the awaiting media that the accusations of his involvement in the drugs deal is concocted. The actor told the media that he has complied with directions given by the ED including giving them extracts of his bank statements. Tanish asserted that the ED has not asked him to appear before the probe agency, again.

Tanish is not the only high profile Tollywood celeb that the ED has summoned in connection with this case. Others who have faced the heat are Rakul Preet Singh, Puri Jagannadh, Charmee Kaur, Rana Daggubati, Ravi Teja, Navdeep, Nandu are among the others who have already appeared before the Special Investigating Team.

The case came to the fore when the Prohibition and Excise Department of the Telangana government busted a three-member gang for alleged drug peddling in 2017. ED joined the scene in 2021 but used provisions under the Prevention Of Money Laundering Act to probe further.

Actor Tarun is slated to appear before the ED on September 22.
