From starring besides Sonam Kapoor in Aisha to nailing her recent role in Jeet Ki Zid, Amrita Puri has evolved as an actor and how!

In the showbiz world, there’s glamour, money, fame and yet an actor may get detached from the real world. “All that glitters is not gold.” Similarly,  it’s not an easy job to be an actor, especially in the Hindi film industry, where millions of movie buffs are bound to have different opinions based on their choices. However, there are some actors whose dedication to art contributes to their work, making them the favourite of the masses. Similarly, actor Amrita Puri has maintained her aura in Bollywood with some great performances under her name.

The actor’s latest release Jeet Ki Zid turned out to be a treat for her fans. Garnering positive reviews and applause from the audience, Amrita’s character of Jaya Singh and her story arc became the soul of the show. And while we are vibing over her exceptional act in Jeet Ki Zid, it would be a perfect time to revisit Amrita’s cinematic journey.

From her debut in Aisha as a small-town girl Shefali to an inspiring wife Jaya in Jeet Ki Zid, Amrita has evolved very well as an actor.

Amrita rose to fame with her debut performance as Shefali in the 2010 film Aisha. Playing the second female lead in the film, her character was exactly the opposite of her real-life personality. Amrita had to practice Haryanvi accent to get into the character of Shefali and eventually she nailed the role with utter perfection. Starring alongside Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol, Amrita’s ‘behenji’ character turned out to be an interesting watch for the audience.

After her impressive debut, Amrita went on to star in various critically acclaimed films and shows including Blood Money, Kai Po Che, Stories By Rabindranath Tagore, India’s Most Wanted, Judgementall Hai Kya and Gulabo Sitabo. Her performances were appreciated by the critics but many of these films didn’t reach out to the masses. And so Amrita remained to be an underrated performer.
