Biopic On Legendary Crickter Sourav Ganguly Announced By Luv Films; We Wonder Who Will Step Into His Shoes?

Speculations around the biopic of cricket legend Sourav Ganguly have turned out to been true and an official announcement by Luv Films and the legend himself has been made. Former India captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly announced that a film detailing his career on the field will soon hit the big screens. After Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Sourav is the third legendary cricketer on whom a biopic is being made. Another film which is waiting for a release eagerly is the historic match of 1983 which the viewers have their keen eye on and cricket buffs are wanting to re-live the historical moment yet again.

Here’s Sourav Ganguly’s life and achievements in a gist. Sourav Ganguly is well known for being one of the finest left handed batsman who left everyone baffled with his skills. Cricket fans lovingly called him ‘Dada’ and he adjourned his journey in 1996 against England. Dada immediately made headlines as he went on to score a century in his maiden Test at Lord’s and everyone had their money on this new, young, talent. The left-handed batsman also went on to score a century in his second Test. Thus, he became the only third batsman to score a century in each of his first two innings. The ‘Prince of Kolkata’ then announced himself in the ODI format as he won four consecutive Man of the Match awards in 1997 against Pakistan. In 2000, the match-fixing scandal engulfed the Indian camp, and Ganguly was then made the captain of the side. It was a herculean task to manage the team in turbulent times.

Ganguly first led India to the finals of the 2000 ICC Knockout Trophy. In 2001, another watershed moment came for Indian cricket as the Ganguly-led side defeated Australia 2-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Ganguly had led India in 195 matches across all formats and managed to win 97 matches out of those. The Prince of Kolkata later went on to become the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and is now the President of the BCCI.
