Cardiac failures are rising among youngsters in India compared to our western counterparts. A recent study shows that young people aged roughly between 35 to 45 years suffer from cardiac attacks, which is commonly known as a heart attack and die 10-15 years earlier in comparison to similar aged people around the world. Heart attacks were quite a big danger to older people rather than youngsters until a few years back. The dynamics have drastically changed now and GenNext is at an increased risk of heart attacks, particularly under the age of 50.
What is causing young Indians to suffer heart attacks at such a young age?
The main causes, as per top cardiologists from India, are genetic and mostly lifestyle related.
Indian families have a very long history of hereditary ailments which happen to trigger heart diseases such as high blood sugar, obesity, high bad cholesterol, high triglycerides which are known as the metabolic syndrome, when put together.
Apart from the most recent demise of Sidharth Shukla, let’s have a look at some more names who left us this year due to heart-related ailment which has always been associated with advancing age.
- Sidharth Shukla – Sidharth Shukla was at the sweetest peak of his career before his sudden death on September 02, 2021. He died due to a cardiac arrest in the wee hours of the morning at the age of 40. According to reports, he popped a pill before sleeping as he was feeling uneasy and then never woke up. Sidharth started his career as a model and then became a popular face on Indian television for his roles in Balika Vadhu, Dil Se Dil Tak and Broken but Beautiful 3. He was also the winner of popular television reality show Bigg Boss 13 hosted by Salman Khan. Sidharth had also made his debut in Bollywood in the 2014 hit film, Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania which was directed by Karan Johar and starred Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.
- Raj Kaushal – Famous Bollywood director, producer and stunt director Raj Kaushal also passed away on 30th June, 2021 aged 49 due to a heart attack. Raj was married to popular actress and television presenter Mandira Bedi and has two children, Vir and Tara, who they had adopted last year. Raj was very active during the late 90s and mid-2000s. He directed around 400 ad films and helmed few Bollywood projects such as Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi, Shaadi ke Laddoo and Anthony Kaun Hai.
- Amit Mistry – Amit Mistry was a popular name in the Gujarati and Hindi film industry. He died on 23rd April, 2021 aged 47 after suffering from a cardiac failure. He is survived by his parents who stay in Andheri. Mistry had no health complications and was absolutely fit and fine. He used to live with his parents and on 23rd April woke up, had his breakfast, even exercised and then suffered a stroke. Before his parents could call for help, he died on the spot. Amit Mistry did some amazing Bollywood films including Kya Kehna, Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, 99, Shor in The City, Yamla Pagla Deewana, A Gentlemen and hit Gujarati film Bey Yaar. He was very famous in the Gujarati theatre industry as well. Amit’s latest work was the musical hit series Bandish Bandits which airs on Amazon Prime.
- Surekha Sikri – Veteran actor Surekha Sikri also passed away due to a cardiac arrest at the age of 75. She suffered a heart failure on 16th July 2021 and was surrounded by her family and loved ones during her last moments. She was already suffering from serious complications from her second brain stroke. Surekha made her debut in 1977 film Kissa Kursi Ka and later on played supporting roles in many Hindi and Malayalam movies. Her most notable work includes hit television show Balika Vadhu and films like Badhaai Ho. The whole Bollywood fraternity mourned her loss.
