The actor has won critical acclaim for all his performances, and he made it here through sheer hard work & merit. He started his career from TV and then started it from scratch when he got into Bollywood. But entered Bollywood, he entered with a blast.
When Vikrant was young, he went to stay at his nani's house. So, at 3 in the night, he was watching an adult film with his cousins. They didn’t expect anyone to walk in on them at that hour, but his masi did. Thankfully, she didn’t tell his parents. But, till he stayed there and went near his masi, like going to the kitchen for water, he would feel embarrassed.
Vikrant’s seniors in college came to know that he is associated with the Shiamak Davar institute and has learned contemporary western dance. For his ragging in college, Vikrant was made to dance for 4-5 minutes before everyone.
Vikrant Massey had succumbed to the peer pressure of having a girlfriend. He was very unattractive at the time as he didn’t meet the general standards of beauty. But in front of his friends, he made up stories about dating certain girls in school and college who didn’t even give him a second glance. Those girls didn’t even care about him, but he had made up a fantasy in his head and boasted about it to his friends. One of the girls came to know about this, and she confronted him.
Whichever girlfriends he has had, have been in contact with him and with his mother.
Vikrant Massey got inspired to be an actor when he watched Irrfan in Maqbool. Since then, he has always wanted to be an actor and do work like Irrfan but never made a plan. He was once in a cafe when a director saw him and told him he had the looks of the guy he needed for his television show. He got his break in the show “Kahaan Hoon Main.” He worked in a few other shows after that till he finally made his mark in Balika Vadhu. He has remained associated with the television industry for over a decade.
Vikrant Massey went for his first-ever audition in Lootera when he was told on his face that TV actors don’t have much scope in movies as they lose their fresh face appeal. The person who was going to play the role of Ranveer’s friend in the movie became unavailable, and Vikrant got a call just 20 days before the start of the shooting.
His work in the movie was critically acclaimed, and he started getting more offers. He made sure to make optimal use of all the opportunities he got.
After his first movie, whenever he went for auditions, he received rude remarks due to his background in TV. Some told him that he’s not a quintessential hero material as he lacks the looks and physique of a hero. Some productions liked his work in his movies, but they told him since he had a small role in that film, they also could offer him a small role only.
There were times when he was finalized for a movie, and he had started preparing for it by going for workshops and reading. He’s also thoroughly pampered by the producer. But just two weeks before the start of the shoot, when he comes back after finishing off some other project, he comes to know that he has been replaced. The filmmakers even lacked the courtesy to communicate their decision of replacement.
He came to know that via newspapers. He has also been nominated for an award, but he wasn’t invited formally to the event. He received a “forwarded many times” WhatsApp invite, which he didn’t pay heed to. Such incidents demoralized and angered him & took them personally, and resolved to prove them wrong through his work.
Vikrant Massey has been consistently giving fantastic performances and has been mostly doing films that edge on social messages. To get under the character's skin, Vikrant anyway doesn’t have a hard & fast method. But, he does make sure to work meticulously on the character by knowing his background from the director & the writer.
For a person who didn’t have a background in acting, Vikrant has surely been giving performances like he has been pro at it for years. He approaches his characters emotionally, mentally & physically and breathes life into them when he’s on-screen. Whether he’s playing a supporting role or the protagonist, he outshines everyone.
He remained his Godfather and mentor in the industry and has reached the heights which satisfy him and ignite the hunger to achieve more in him, simultaneously. Vikrant will be included in the list of one of the best actors in the industry, who he admires, soon.
