Daniel Craig Reacts to Claims That His James Bond Films Are Prequels
HollywoodOne of these theories is the fact that in Casino Royale(2008), James Bond is introduced as “00” which means he is yet to become “007” and hence all the proceeding movies including, No Time to Die(2021) is a prequel to James Bond becoming Agent 007
There are so many things to look forward to in the newest Bond movie, No Time to Die which was released on 30th September 2021. It is also supposed to be the last Bond movie for its actor Daniel Craig who first joined the James Bond Franchise in 2006 in Casino Royale. Then came Quantum of Solace(2008), Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015).
The Prequel Theory
One of these theories is the fact that in Casino Royale(2008), James Bond is introduced as “00” which means he is yet to become “007” and hence all the proceeding movies including, No Time to Die(2021) is a prequel to James Bond becoming Agent 007. Like all theories, it is up for debate in the fan circle. In a recent interview given by Daniel Craig, the actor seems to be not averse to the idea. The caveat here being that no matter what the actor says, it will depend on the production company and everyone involved to explicitly state it, which seems rather unlikely.
This theory keeps the fans excited as it will let them see Daniel Craig in many more James Bond movies to come.
Fan Theories
The movie series is actually based on books by writer Ian Fleming who introduced the character James Bond in 1953 in the book, Casino Royale. The movie versions which began in 1962 have quite often taken liberties to adapt the original work. Sometimes these changes are to make it more suitable to the visual medium. Other times they have to keep up with the time. The biggest example being the upgradation of career history of James Bond played by Daniel Craig, who is shaped by the Gulf War and not World War 2. This has allowed fans enough space to speculate on the movie and their future plot progressions.
No Time To Die is Daniel Craig’s fifth and last James Bond film. He will next perform in the sequel of the 2019 Rian Johnson-directed film, Knives Out.
