Emmay Entertainment, founded by Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and Nikkhil Advani, is surely going places. While some of their shows are already streaming on OTT, they have their hands full with other exciting projects as well.
One of them is Rani Mukerji’s Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, which is directed by Ashima Chibber. Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway is Rani’s first film outside of Yash Raj Films, her home production. Even though Rani has worked for other production houses earlier, she had not been doing any films outside the YRF banner for long. Reportedly, it didn’t take much time to convince Rani to do this film. Rani was quoted saying that this is one of the most amazing scripts that she has read in a long time and that’s why she immediately decided to do this film.
Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway revolves around child welfare and is based on the controversial 2011 real-life story of an Indian couple Sagarika and Anurup Bhattacharya whose kids Abhigyan and Aishwarya were taken away from them by the Norway welfare services alleging parental neglect. The kids were then sent back to India from their foster homes in 2012. Rani had said that the film is dedicated to all the mothers.
Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, which was announced on Rani’s 43rd birthday, will be ready by the end of this year and will hit the screens in the coming year.
Besides Rani’s film, they also have the much-awaited Satyameva Jayate 2, directed by Milap Zaveri’s with John Abraham with Divya Khosla Kumar playing lead roles in the film. It is also reported that Emmay has signed Milap for two more projects after this.
That’s not all; the trio is collaborating with many more talents from the film industry. They have directors like Barnali Ray, Madhumita Sundararaman. While Ananya Banerjee and Gaurav Chawla are working on a show for the OTT platform.
