A list of some of the most prominent people we lost in 2020! From Irrfan Khan, Ravi Patwardhan to Rishi Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput and others.

2020 was a tough year for the whole world. A year where we were battling not only a pandemic, but the anxiety and depression that it brought, too. The year was brutal to even the film and television industries, as we lost a lot of talent from there. Actors, directors, music composers, etc. Here are some of those talents whose losses we are still mourning.

Zarina Roshan Khan

The actress Zarina Roshan Khan, who played the role of Indu Daadi, on ZeeTV’s Kumkum Bhagya, passed away from cardiac arrest at the age of 54. Her work, however, still lives on in the show that she loved performing in. To celebrate her memory, you can watch her show Kumkum Bhagya on ZEE5.

Ravi Patwardhan

The veteran actor who worked mostly in the Marathi cinema, passed away this year after suffering a heart attack. He was 84. He had always been a masterful actor and had worked in the entertainment industry for almost four decades. Let the memory of this great actor live on in his works. Bhupesh Kumar Pandya

Alumni of the National School School of Drama, Bhupesh Kumar Pandya was a celebrated theatre and film actor. He passed away in September due to lung cancer. He was best known for his work in the Bollywood film Vicky Donor.

Kamal Thoke

Another veteran talent of the Marathi Entertainment Industry, Kamal Thoke passed away in November this year, due to a long illness. She used to play the role of Jiji in the Marathi TV serial Lagira Zhala Jee. She had always been a very respected person in the industry. Rahat Indori

The famous poet and lyricists, who wrote a lot of songs for Bollywood films, passed away this year due to cardiac arrest. He has written lyrics for songs in the movies like Murder, Mission Kashmir, and Kareeb among others.

Bhanu Athaiya

The woman who became the first Oscar winner for India, for achievement in costume designing for the movie Gandhi, also passed away in October this year, at the age of 91. You can also watch her brilliant work in the National Award winning film, Mera Naam Joker on ZEE5.

 

Avinash Kharshikar

One of the most prominent actors of Marathi cinema, Avinash Kharshikar, known mostly for his comic roles, also passed away in October this year, due to a cardiac arrest. You can watch his performance in the Marathi comedy film, Yeda ki Khula on ZEE5, from the year 1991.

 

Anil Devgan

Director Anil Devgan, known for his directorial like Raju Chacha, Haal-e-Dil, and Blackmail, passed away on October 5th this year. He was the Bollywood star Ajay Devgn’s cousin.

 

SP Balasubramanyam

The music industry of India faced very heartbreaking news this year when we heard the news of SP Balasubramanyam passing away. Known for his singing in the 90’s, especially for Salman Khan and Kamal Hassan, SP Balasubramanyam died due to COVD-19 related complications. Saroj Khan

The masterful choreographer of Bollywood, who had choreographed more than 3000 songs, over the span of 40 years, passed away this year due to cardiac arrest. Her loss was mourned by all of Bollywood.

Jagdeep

Known best for his role as Surma Bhopali in the film Sholay, Jagdeep passed away in July this year. Besides Sholay, he had acted in over 400 films in Bollywood. He was the father of the famous Bollywood actor Javed Jaffery. You can watch his performance in the 1984 movie Hanste Khelte on ZEE5.

Basu Chatterjee

The masterful filmmaker, known for directing comedy and family dramas passed away this year. His movies always taught some life lessons. He was best known for his films Khatta Meetha, Chhoti Si Baat, Priyatama, and Baaton Baaton Mein. You can watch the film Priyatama on ZEE5.

Harish Shah

We lost another veteran filmmaker of Bollywood, Harish Shah in 2020. He passed away in July due to cancer. He had begun his career by directing the Rajesh Khanna film, Haathi Mere Saathi. Raam Tere Kitne Naam is considered one of his best directorial and you can watch it on ZEE5.

 

Asif Basra

Vishal Anand

This veteran actor-director of Bollywood passed away on October 4th. He is known for his roles in movies like Chalte Chalte (1976) and Kismet (1980). He is the one who gave Bappi Lehri his big break in the Hindi Film Industry.

 

Wajid Khan

A very prominent music composer of Bollywood, Wajid Khan passed away at the age of 42 this year, due to kidney complications. Nishikant Kamat

The young director who had directed movies in both Marathi and Hindi languages, Nishikant Kamat passed away at 50 due to chronic liver disease. Rishi Kapoor

This legendary actor’s death came as a shock to the whole nation. Very loved and very celebrated, Rishi Kapoor was on everyone’s list of most favourite actors.
