Gangubai Kathiawadi Makers Avert Clash With Alia Bhatt Starrer RRR; Film To Now Release In Same Week As Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha

Finally, it’s Sanjay Leela Bhansali who has decided to bow out of the clash with SS Rajamouli directorial RRR. For the unversed, Alia Bhatt’s Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Gangubai Kathiawadi, which was earlier scheduled to release on Jan 6, 2022, was set to clash with SS Rajamouli’s RRR that is slated to release on Jan 7, next year. Now it’s Sanjay Leela Bhansali who has decided to make way for RRR to slay alone on the silver screen. Making the official announcement on the social media handles, the makers have now pushed the release date to Feb, next year.

SLB production’s official Insta handle re-shared the good news on social media. The official statement stated that the film will now release on February 18, 2022. Gangubai Kathiawadi is now releasing in the same week as Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chaddha as it is slated for a theatrical release on Valentine’s day i.e., Feb 14, 2022.

On the other hand, RRR stars Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn alongside Alia Bhatt. RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi were also slated to have a major clash with Prabhas-starrer Radhe Shyam.

Speaking about Gangubai Kathiawadi, the SLB’s magnum opus is adapted from one of the chapters of noted author Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Alia will portray the titular role of Gangubai, who is one of the most powerful, loved, and respected madams from Kamathipura during the 1960s.

For the uninitiated, Gangubai Kathiawadi was earlier slated on September 11, 2020, owing to the pandemic, the makers had then announced the film’s release in July 2021, however, the film’s release was delayed again owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. On the work front, Alia Bhatt also has Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and Jee Le Zara in the pipeline.
