Halloween Kills directed by David Gordon Green beats James Bond ‘No Time To Die’ at box office as it opens at a whopping 50.4 million dollars in North America

The latest instalment of the ‘Halloween’ franchise has opened as the top film in North America and made a whopping collection of $50.4 million from 3,705 locations. The picture outperformed its forecasts, which was predicted to have an opening in the $30 million range. It also easily beat its primary competitions, which included the James Bond film ‘No Time to Die’, which is in its second week and Ridley Scott’s ‘The Last Duel’. This becomes a more big deal because the ‘Halloween Kills’ is also available for viewing at home via Peacock while its other two competitions are only available at  theatres. 

The latest part of the horror franchise has secured the highest opening weekend for a streaming day-and-date premiere tag by beating out “Godzilla vs. Kong,” which earned $31.6 million despite debuting on HBO Max at the same time as it did in theatres.

The David Gordon Green-directed horror that is the twelfth part of the Halloween franchise can be crowned as best for a pandemic horror opening, nearly beating out “A Quiet Place Part II.”

The prequel to the current instalment, the 2018 release ‘Halloween’, was a huge smash, grossing more than $256 million on a $10 million budget. There are also reports of a third film in the modern Michael Myers trilogy in the works, titled as Halloween Ends, this instalment is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2022.

The current instalment picks up on the same horrific night as the 2018 ‘Halloween,’ with Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role as Laurie Strode and James Jude Courtney as Michael Myers.

Jim Orr, the head of domestic distribution Universal pictures gave the statement praising the director of the film and said, “David Gordon Green crafted an incredibly terrifying continuation of this franchise that our core audience was more than eager to come out to the theatre to see. Audiences want to be out, they want to be in theatres, and they want to experience it communally.”
