Manipur Actor Lin Laishram Speaks Up About Priyanka Chopra’s Recent Interview Addressing Representation Issue In Mary Kom – DEETS INSIDE
મનોરંજનPriyanka Chopra is one of the most talented actresses in Bollywood. Recently she talked about casting representation in Mary Kom. Now Manipur Actor Lin Laishram has reacted to it
Priyanka Chopra is one of the most prominent actors in the industry. She has been a part of many remarkable movies, one of them was Mary Kom where she played the lady herself. Lin Laishram, a Manipur actor who previously spoke out regarding the dearth of diversification in the casting of the movie Mary Kom, has now praised Priyanka Chopra’s awareness of the issue in a recent interview. Priyanka Chopra played the lead in the film, while Lin had a supporting role.
Priyanka Chopra speaks out concerning her involvement in Mary Kom in a recent interview with a leading magazine “When she took on the role of Mary Kom, she was quite apprehensive at first since she was a genuine, breathing icon who made room for several women athletes,” she added. Plus, she doesn’t resemble her in the least. We didn’t appear comparable physiologically because she is from the east of India and she is from the north. The position should have apparently gone to somebody in the northeast, in retrospect.”

Lin has now praised Priyanka for being “gracious and gutsy” in speaking out about the movie’s lack of representation. “It’s quite generous and gutsy of Priyanka to ultimately embrace and bring it out there,” she remarked. My respect for her has only gotten stronger. I believe that inclusiveness is difficult to comprehend unless you have been excluded. With the rise of digital media, it appears that integrity and genuineness are now being given the attention they deserve. I’m grateful for the shift, and I’m looking forward to the wonderful work that’s coming our way.”

“I appreciate Priyanka for her working hard, she truly put in a huge amount of hours in order to appear like Mary Kom,” Lin remarked last year in an interview with a leading daily, “but I always believed that casting is an important stage in the film.” Because I believe in honesty and diversity, I believe that a girl from Manipur or the North East would have been an excellent choice to symbolize us. As seen in Mary Kom, when it comes to impersonating a Northeast achiever, a non-North Eastern individual is chosen.
