As an actor, he has always given 100 per cent to any character that was offered to him. Even though we first saw Soubin on the big screen in 2013, the actor has been a part of the industry since 2003. He started his career in the showbiz as an assistant director for Siddique’s Chronic Bachelor. The Carbon star has also worked with popular directors like Rafi Mecartin, Santhosh Sivan, Rajeev Ravi and Amal Neerad as an assistant director for many years. Soubin had to wait until 2015 to get a lead role in Alphonse Puthren’s movie Premam

His humorous on-screen portrayal as the PT teacher in Premam (2015) became a cult hit among youngsters. Soubin gained recognition among the masses with his quirky characters in popular movies like Charlie, Maheshinte Prathikaram, Kali and Darvinte Parinamam. All of the aforementioned movies were commercial hits. Soubin’s understanding of choosing the right script and his years of experience behind the scenes made him the preferred choice for directors. 

Soubin’s long term dream of becoming a filmmaker came true with his directorial debut in the movie Parava in 2017. The heart-touching film became a hit for its visual and technical appeal. In 2018, Soubin Shahir won the Kerala State Film Award for the Best Actor for his lead role in the film Sudani From Nigeria. 

The actor continues to entertain the audience with power-packed roles in Malayalam films as he has made a mark for himself in the industry. Soubin’s success story is an inspiration for youngsters as it shows what years of hard work and resilience can achieve.
