Oggarane Dabbi, although off-air now, was a brilliant show for anyone who loves cooking. Host Murali, who has a huge fan following, would invite a guest; either a homemaker or someone who has a passion for cooking, to show us some of their favourite recipes. Not only did they cook the dish live, but Murali would then sit down with them and try out each and every dish. A perk was the small goodies the guests got after their dish was appreciated. While we can certainly hope that the show must make another season, today we will look at some yummy and quick snacks. Let me tell you why. It’s because the monsoons are here!! Sitting by your window, watching the rain and having some bisi-bisi snack is all one can think of when you think of the monsoon right?
So without any further ado, here’s the first delish-snack coming up your way from Murali’s Show Oggarane Dabbi. They are easy to make and perfect for the rains.
To prepare Dry Green Peas Vada, here are the ingredients you’ll need – Green Peas (soaked overnight), Onion, Garlic, Ginger, Green Chillies (cut long and slanted), Pudina, Coriander, Salt and Oil.
Preparation: Take a pan and add oil enough to deep fry the vadas. Leave it on a low flame and in the meanwhile, grind the soaked Green Peas in the mixer-grinder. Empty the contents into a bowl. In the same mixer-grinder add ginger, garlic, green chillies and grind it into a paste. Add this to bowl with the ground Green Peas. The chopped onions go into the bowl, next. Chop some Pudina and Coriander leaves before adding it to the mix. This should be followed by salt and mix everything together with your hand. Now, gently make the shape of your choice using both hands and add it to the pan, you first put on low heat. Fry till slightly more than golden brown and serve hot!
