The Plot
ZEE5’s Taish is a story of friendship and brotherhood, and love that sees a fatal end due to an old but deep wound. Rohan Kalra (Jim Sarbh) and Sunny Lalwani (Pulkit Samrat) have been best friends for ages. Their childhood friendship gets a new occasion to bloom at Rohan’s younger brother, Krish’s wedding in the UK. On the other hand, ties between two brothers in a crime family are getting murkier by the second. These brothers, Kuljinder and Pali have an estranged relationship since Pali is in love with Kujinder’s wife Jahaan.
Moving on, the wedding gives Sunny, Rohan, Krish and their respective partners a chance to let loose and enjoy some happy moments before the nuptials. But while the Kalras are busy in celebrations, the crime family, headed by Kuljinder, is no less than a ticking time bomb. Rohan’s family and this crime family come face-to-face at the wedding and things take a turn for the worst as a precious life is lost. This showdown happens due to a fight between Sunny and Kuljinder.
The entire wedding crumbles and gruesome bloodshed starts because of a past incident. This past incident has a major connection between Rohan and Kuljinder. When this old wound resurfaces, bonds are tested and the brotherhood in this plot adds to the stakes. Kuljeet’s brother Pali’s (Harshvardhan Rane) anger drives the plot and creates more chaos in this revenge-thriller.

Things to watch out for in ZEE5’s Taish
During this quarantine, if you are eager to watch a revenge drama, Taish is the perfect film for you. Jim Sarbh and Pulkit Samrat’s on-screen chemistry steals the show. Even though this revenge plot is gruesome and a bloody affair, their friendship triumphs in many situations but sees a predictable end. All the three male leads in the film – Sarbh, Rane, and Samrat have performed well and take the story forward. Director Bejoy Nambiar, who has worked with the likes of Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan, is able to skillfully weave the characters’ anger and past issues to cause a chain reaction in the present.
While talking about this new ZEE5 film, the performance of the female cast cannot be missed. Taish’s female cast comprises of Kriti Kharbanda as Rohan’s girlfriend Aarfa Khan, Sanjeeda Shaikh as Jahaan, Saloni Batra as Kuljeet’s first wife Sanober, and Zoa Morani as Krish’s fiance. Each of these actors carries the plot forward and add enough emotions to its storyline. Their compelling performances make the Taish plot more realistic and intriguing. For example, Saloni Batra as Sanober not only controls the men in the crime family during a crisis but also deals with the family business when Pali goes to jail. Even though Taish is a revenge story among its three leading men, these women stand tall and do not get lost in this gory affair.
Taish outranks many new OTT platform films with its technical finesse. Every scene in the film is well-crafted and the cinematography is commendable. Starting right from the first scene in the film at Kuljinder’s wedding to the final car chase between Sunny, Rohan, and Pali. Taish’s music is another memorable aspect of this film. Every song and every component of the background score adds flavour to film, right from Jahaan and Pali romantic track to the songs used during Krish’s wedding celebrations.
Taish is no doubt a compelling revenge drama film. However, its plotline does have a few loopholes. For example, Pali getting bail right before his murder seems farfetched and unrealistic. Another example is Rohan wanting to get Sunny admitted to a hospital, a plot twist that doesn’t contribute much to Sunny’s rage and uncertainty that is obvious in every scene. But what is lost in the plot is more than made up for due to its perfect background score and songs.

Final thoughts on this revenge drama
ZEE5’s Taish is everything you can ask for in a revenge drama. Apart from the acting performances, its strong technical support is like a cherry on top. Do not forget to watch out for some stunning action sequences between the film’s male cast, since Taish will be incomplete without them. Taish‘s music will become a part of your playlist and add a melancholy depth to it.
