Viewer Who Sued YRF After Watching Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan Gets A Positive Response From SC
મનોરંજનSC stays NCDRC order directing Yash Raj Films to pay compensation for exclusion of song in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Fan; gets compensation of 10,000/- and litigation costs 5,000/-
A complaint was filed by a viewer recently against YRF’s Shah Rukh Khan starrer fan for not including the Jabra Fan song. The complaint was on watching the promos of Bollywood movie Fan decided to watch the film with her family members. The promo seen by the family included the song Jabra Fan but when they saw the movie in a theatre the song was missing and Zaidi decided to launch a complaint against Yash Raj Films.
The complainant approached the concerned District Forum by way of a consumer complaint seeking compensation, along with a direction to the petitioners to air the promos and song with a caveat that the said song was not included in the film. The complaint was however opposed by the production house saying that it had been disclosed to the public at large by way of press interviews that the said song will not be a part of the movie.

A bench of Justices Hemant Gupta and V Ramasubramanium issued notices to the Central Board of Film Certification and the complainant, a teacher by profession. The top court’s order came while hearing an appeal filed by Yash Raj Films Pvt Ltd challenging an order of NCDRC which upheld the State Commission’s 2017 direction to pay compensation at 10,000 to the complainant Afreen Fatima Zaidi, along with litigation cost of 5,000.

The movie Fan stars Shah Rukh Khan, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Sayani Gupta, and others. The story revolves around Gaurav, a Delhiite who is a big fan of Bollywood superstar Aryan Khanna, who resembles him. He sets off to Mumbai to meet him but is spurned by him, which is when Gaurav decides to ruin his life. The film is based on a real-life story and not many people are aware of it. As per a report, the character is based on a jabra SRK fan named Deepak Kalra.
