Every Bond film is eagerly anticipated by fans throughout the world, who are enthralled not just by the character but also by the plot. In this regard, Kim Sherwood is set to write a trilogy of “contemporary thriller” books set in the world of James Bond, and has described being given the brief by Ian Fleming Publications as “a dream come true,” almost 70 years after the first story of the suave spy, “Casino Royale,” was published in 1953.
The first film of the series, due out in September 2022, will be set at a period when Bond is missing, presumed kidnapped, or perhaps killed, spurring the formation of a new team of spies, one of whom is a plant.
Sherwood, who was a finalist for The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year award in 2018 for her novel “Testament,” said in a statement that “dreams rarely come true,” and that she is grateful to the Fleming family for this great chance. She goes on to say that she is honoured to be the first novelist to expand the Bond universe through the Double O sector, giving old favourites new life and introducing new characters to the canon. She’s ecstatic to show off her Double O agents to the rest of the globe.
The 32-year-old author praised James Bond as one of her life’s enduring passions, claiming that she spent her childhood “hooked” on spy novels. The author chose Fleming as the subject of a school essay on an author she admired and admired while still in school. The literary representative for Ian Fleming Publications, Johnny Geller, believes there was no better candidate for the job. He believes they’ve hit gold with this latest cooperation with Kim Sherwood, who is not only a great novelist but also a huge fan of Ian Fleming. Any lover of James Bond and Ian Fleming will enjoy her reimagining of some of our favourite characters and world building.
‘No Time to Die,’ the most recent James Bond picture, was Daniel Craig’s final film as the spy, and it featured the creative talents of ‘Fleabag’ author Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
