Aamir Khan-Kiran Rao Announce Divorce After Being Together For 15 Years, Will be “Co-Parents” To Son Azad

Bollywood actor, Aamir Khan is currently working on his upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha. That’s when the actor created headlines for a completely different reason. After being together for 15 years, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao have announced their divorce in a joint statement. While this comes as a shock to many, the duo claims they have thought over it well. They also said that the decision was made long back, and they’re just going public with it now. Read on to know more.

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao first met each other during the shoot of Lagaan, where the former played the lead while the latter was one of the assistant directors. The couple got married on December 28, 2005, and have a kid together, Azad Khan. Calling this “a new chapter” in their lives, Aamir and Kiran’s joint statement read, “Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives – no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other”.

Aamir and Kiran claimed that they would be co-parenting their son Azad as they don’t want the kid to grow up without either of his parents. Their statement read, “We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together. Talking about their ventures together, they said, “We will also continue to work as collaborators on films, Paani Foundation, and other projects that we feel passionate about”.

Just as everyone around was trying to process this news, another video of Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao surfaced online in which they assured people that they’re happy with their decision. The duo also asked everyone to pray for their happiness.
