Pakistani shows are no more like before. They have become extremely progressive with their content. Several Pakistani shows are being watched by the Indian audience because of different reasons. From Ek Jhoothi Love Story to Churails, a lot of Pakistani content has gained immense popularity amongst the Indian youth. Take a look at some of the reasons why these shows have found a fanbase in India.
The reason why Pakistani content has gained an Indian fanbase
1. Talented actors
Pakistani actors are extremely talented in the new emerging shows. Not only are they good looking but they have portrayed some challenging roles really well. Churail actors like Sarwat Gilani, Mehar Bano, Nimra Bucha and Yasra Rizvi have portrayed women from various social classes and with their acting skill have managed to give out the message of the show effectively.
Ek Jhoothi Love Story cast starring Bilal Abbas Khan and Madiha Imam has managed to give a great performance as young adults living in a middle-class family. The Indian fanbase has loved the love-hate relationship between the two. Saba Qamar as Fauzia has managed to look courageous and Indian fans have appreciated her performance.

2.Refreshing and progressive plots
The latest Pakistani ZEE5 originals have very unique plotlines. Churails is so progressive that it has already been banned in Pakistan. The show revolves around Karachi’s secret detectives whose mission it is to expose the city’s unfaithful, elite husbands and also supports the LGBTQ community. Indian audience loves such progressive content and thus showered the show all the respect it deserved.
Ek Jhoothi Love story is also set in recent times and has a plotline around catfishing. It also talks about various social issues like toxic patriarchy and Women empowerment. In Baaghi, Fauzia is shown a strong independent woman and has a very refreshing plot as she decides to follow her dreams.
3. Cross-culture curiosity
The plots have included many cross-cultural references in the shows. The characters in Churails are modern and often look up to other cultures that do not have such issues as theirs. In Ek Jhoothi Love Story, Salma and Sohail often dream of leaving their country and settling elsewhere. Indians often dream of such things too.
4. Modern outfits
The costume designers in these shows have done a really good job. Unlike before, the shows now have various designer clothes that are worn in Indian shows as well. In Churails, the lead 4 women are dressed in western outfits that portray that they’re independent. In Ek Jhoothi Love Story, Salma played by Madiha Imam and her sisters Shazia and Shabana often wear pretty salwar suits and look gorgeous even in simple Indian attires. Kinza Razzak is also shown wearing western outfits as she is seen in a model’s role in the show.
5. Relatable family life
These shows have shown family life which is similar to the families in India. The middle-class families portrayed in Ek Jhoothi Love Story were very relatable to those living in India. The mothers and siblings behaved in a similar way like Indian mothers and sisters do. Thus the Indian audience has started consuming these shows because of its relatable content.
