On Monday, Malayalam actor Saranya Sasi breathed her last in Thiruvananthapuram after a long and protracted illness. Earlier this year, Saranya was undergoing treatment for a brain tumour when she contracted the Covid-19 virus. Though the actor had recovered well, her health deteriorated due to Covid-19 complications. As per the reports, Saranya was readmitted to a hospital recently after she was diagnosed with pneumonia. Following this, she passed away on Monday at the age of 35.
Saranya Sasi, who primarily works in the TV industry was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2012. And in the last few years, the actor had reportedly undergone 11 surgeries. While the illness had taken its toll on Saranya’s health, it also adversely affected her financial condition. And thus, left her completely bankrupt. However, her industry colleagues and friends had raised funds for her medical treatment back then.
In May this year, Saranya had tested positive for Coronavirus while being under treatment for the brain tumour. After which, her health started worsening. On Monday, the actor succumbed to death following Covid-19 complications. Many actors, politicians and fans paid their last respects to the actor. Saranya’s best friends Manju Warrier and Seema Nair took to social media to express their grief and shared their condolences with the family.
Also, Kerala’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan shared an appreciation note for the actor. He recalled the time when Saranya had contributed to flood-relief camps despite her financial crisis. Condoling the death, Vijayan said that the actor fought the disease “confidently”. Meanwhile, many fans were also seen paying tributes to Saranya.
For those unversed, Saranya was a well-known face of the Malayalam TV industry. She had featured in popular TV sagas including Karuthamuthu and Harichandanam. Also, the actor has a few films under her credit. Her major film release was ‘Chhotta Mumbai’ alongside superstar Mohanlal.
