Are you a diehard GOT fan and miss the show? Well, worry no more. Zee5’s new web series Paurashpur is quite similar to GOT and here are 5 reasons why you are going to love it:
1. Paurushpur plot
If you love GOT then you must be really into period dramas that are based on kings and kingdoms. Like GOT, Paurashpur too follows the lives of the higher echelons and those who are related to them. The show is based on gender politics, many conspiracies, revenge, and most of all – greed to acquire power.
2. Costumes and set
Makers of this show have brilliantly managed to bring in the look and feel of the 17th century’s castles and clothes. Much like GOT, Paurashpur too has very realistically depicted various elements of a kingdom from that era. From a piece of jewelry to colors in castle interiors, they have really paid attention to details while making the series.
3. Character similarities
We can hate Cersei as much as we want for her conniving nature but cannot deny the fact that she really knew how to play the Game of Thrones. Much like her is Rani Meerawati who is stuck under patriarchal oppression but knows her way out and represents a really strong and independent woman. Like Cersei’s husband Robert Baratheon, Meerawati’s husband Bhadrapratap too has patriarchy embedded in his mind and asserts his dominance over women. It will very interesting to see how these characters turn the tables.
4. Background score
Music obviously plays a very important role in grabbing the audience’s attention. While GOT has been acclaimed for its sound effects and music, the background score in Paurashpur’s trailer is just as gripping and noteworthy.
5. Paurushpur cast
GOT is known for having many characters and parallel storylines. Just like that, Paurashpur too has many characters who are all played by brilliant actors. With a casting coup of actors such as Milind Soman, Shilpa Shinde, Shaheer Sheikh, Anant V Joshi, Poulomi Das, etc. it is safe to say that this series will be a magnum opus and we can’t wait for its release in December!
