We’re moving closer to Republic Day which calls for some patriotic movies and characters that have portrayed characteristics that we, as citizens, must have within us. Here are 5 characters played by outstanding actors that stand as an inspiration to many in this country.

Karthik played by Vasishta Simha is an honest police officer who loses his gun on the way to his work only to realise that his gun has reached the hands of a common man Murthy. Murthy played by Jaggesh is a grey character who eventually ends up using the gun to rob a bank. Karthik’s relentless efforts to find his gun which could be dangerous for the public is admirable. He wants to protect the people and capture Murthy so that he can give back the money that he robbed from the bank.

Kismath

Kismath revolves around the story of Vijay who is unemployed and is in dire need to repay a loan. This process of having to repay this certain amount creates a number of obstacles. The story has a certain attractiveness to it for the kind of simplicity that the common audience is able to connect to. His ability to overcome those obstacles without taking a wrong path is as heroic as it can get. While everyone around him tries to entice him into committing crimes so he can repay his loan, Vijay stands strong and solves his problems with mere honesty.

The Terrorist

While our country is majorly entertained by the film industry, very few films actually portray women as heroic personalities. The Terrorist revolves around two sisters, Reshma and Asma, who is kidnapped. The struggle and the persistence with which Reshma overcomes many of the hurdles put across her is truly heroic and a source of aspiration for women to imbibe. She is courageous and single-handedly rescues her sister from the criminals.

Satyameva Jayate

Satyameva Jayate is a ZEE5 Original and one of the lesser-known films of this day and age. The story is simple but enthralling with a shopkeeper who is harassed by a bunch of goons and struggles to fight them in the court of law. This extremely heart-warming story shows someone as simple as a shopkeeper who is initially denied justice but does not give up and seeks justice eventually.

Thayige Thakka Maga

Thayige Thakka Maga is an action film that follows the life of Mohan Das who, out of nowhere, decides to wipe out the crimes in his city. He serves as an inspiration to many as he shuffles between building a career as a karate trainer and fight crime using his mother’s help who also plays a lawyer. He also faces hurdles when someone as powerful as a minister tries to overpower a common man.
