Rihanna opens up about her upcoming album, reveals it will be ‘Different’

Rihanna Fenty or simply RiRi to her fans…loves to dangle the hook of anticipation. The 33-year-old Barbadian singer currently preoccupied with her popular lingerie line biz still takes time to complete her forthcoming album. With this new album her priority, this multi-Grammy winner is striving to give something ‘hatke’ from what she has done previously. Giving a peek into this something different to expect in the album, Rihana in a message on Save X Fenty Show Vol 3 event told her fans they could expect to hear the unexpected and they had to bear this in mind.

Heightening the expectation of her fans is the five-year wait since Rihanna last released ANTI, her eighth album. This critically acclaimed album contained hits that included Love On the Brain, Needed and Work. It was in 2020 that the artist confided she had started work on recording new music.

With nine Grammys for music cutting across genres such as dance, rap, Rihanna put her loyal fans on notice by saying, “Whatever you know of Rihanna is not going to be what you hear.” Comparing her music to fashion, Rihanna said that she treats music the same way she wears her fashion and one should be able to play music. The actor-artist said she is having fun and the result is going to be completely different from what she has come up with before.

Petty Officer Cora ‘Weps’ Raikes from the 2012 film Battleship, Rihanna who is yet to announce a release date for this upcoming album ensured that music was the focus of her Savage X Fenty event. Returning for a third straight year, the event highlights Rihanna’s latest assortment of styles with an all-star lineup of models, actors, and performers taking center stage. Recorded in downtown LA, Savage X Fenty event will see Nas, Ricky Martin, Daddy Yankee, Normani and Jasmine Sullivan perform.

The special appearances

And there will be special appearances by Gigi Hadid, Vanessa Hudgens, Alek Wek, Jeremy Pope, Erykah Badu, and Adriana Lima. One can expect Rihanna to unveil some of her favourite styles from the new collection – one which will see her works on different body shapes and silhouettes and one that gives life to them. Rihanna in the past shows has also shown an inclusive approach to her fashion line by giving men of all shapes their share of innerwear. This is her way to ensure that men do not get behind in the inclusion curve.
