Taking each challenge at a time, says Shoot-out At Alair producer Sushmita Konidela

Work styles all across the globe have changed extensively due to the pandemic and the content creation industry is not a stranger to this change. Everything from Anand Ranga’s Shoot-out At Alair‘s production value to the sets had us in awe and we decided to have a candid chat with Sushmita Konidela, who produced the show.

Q. Was executing a web series during the pandemic an experience worth remembering?
A. As a general made in production, having the fabulous and renowned actors on our set is worth remembering. Particularly, during the time of the pandemic, experiencing and dealing with the first Covid positive case on set and how our team dealt with it and bounced back at production is worth remembering.

Q. Do you think there’s any particular aspect in terms of production, that you would take away from these abnormal times and implement it even when things get back to normalcy?
A. Decreasing the number of heads on the sets and increasing the work efficiency while keeping the operations simple and tactical should work going forward. I would like to implement this throughout our journey.

Q. The audience has already started accepting OTT as a more convenient source of entertainment, especially given the present situation. What kind of competition do you think this poses on the theatrical release of films?
A. With the increasing viewership for the entertainment industry, OTT is only going to serve as an added source rather than a competition to the movie theatres.

Q. What’s the one thing that you think is different production-wise, in movies and web series?
A. Absolutely no difference production-wise. It is only creatively different in the format.

Q. How was the big shift from costume designing to producing films and how did you muster the courage to do it?
A. It surely is a big shift, but taking each challenge at a time with a lot of excitement. I needed persistence more than courage to do this.

Q. What makes Shoot-out At Alair most sought after, according to you?
A. The realistic and gritty approach to this drama is what makes it different from the usual cop vs bad guy series.

Q. How are you curving the roadmap ahead on the work-front, in 2021?
A. We have a plan with a combination of an organised structure with equally go-with-the-flow ease to it. We want to be ready and adaptive to what 2021 throws at us.

Shoot-out At Alair was undoubtedly one of those series that you just couldn’t stop watching midway. It was refreshing for us to know and understand what went in the making of this marvellous series.
