During ‘Holika Dahan’, the village ladies stop Saroj Devi from lighting the bonfire as she is a widow. Protesting against this regressive thinking, Siya also refuses to participate in the ‘dahan’ and playing with colours on ‘Holi’ if Saroj Devi is disallowed. To Mohini’s dismay, Siya garners support from the ladies for her progressive attitude, and Saroj Devi performs the rituals of the ‘dahan’. Miraculously, Siya gets the ‘dhaani chunar’ following which Ram gains more movement in his legs.
