When you open ZEE5’s Pandora’s Box, you will find a wide variety of shows of your liking. But all those shows have one thing in common — they portray today’s women as progressive, insightful and strong.
Let’s take a look at five such incidents where daughters come to the rescue:
1) Although initially, Preeta (Shraddha Arya) did not know that Sarla was her mother, still she stands by her side through thick and thin. This was proved when Preeta, with sheer cleverness, rescues her mother Sarla, who was kidnapped during Sherlyn’s wedding. She also safely averted a bomb blast in Kundali Bhagya.
2) Prachi (Mugdha Chaphekar) is Pragya’s (Sriti Jha) daughter and resembles her spirit. Although too simplistic in her demeanour, Prachi is equally smart and intelligent. Unaware of having a twin sister, Prachi does not fall prey to Rhea’s trap in college. She fights against ragging and supports other pertinent issues in the show Kumkum Bhagya.
3) In Ishq Subhan Allah, while Kabir (Adnan Khan) hails from a conservative family, Zara (Eisha Singh) has complete knowledge of Islam, but pursues the religion from a pragmatic angle. In one of the cases at the Sharia Board, a woman used to work and loved her liberty, but her husband opposed it. While Kabir supported the husband’s decision considering the conservative person he is, Zara opposed it. She took the woman’s side. Zara intends to bring a change in society.
4) “Ek teacher hoon main, Main bachon ko woh seekh dena chati hoon jise Woh life mein ek behtar insaan ban sake, naki makeup lagana seekhe”. Pragya’s (Sriti Jha) character from Kumkum Bhagya has taken a stand from the advent of the show. As a teacher, she emphasised on making her students educated, rather than focus on external beauty which is temporary.
5) In Tujhse Hai Raabta, time and again, Kalyani (Reem Shaikh) stands up for Malhar’s (Sehban Azim) reputation or for her mother Anupriya (Poorva Gokhale). She encourages her mother to study with her and to not give in to the redundant traditions which she is expected to follow. Kalyani is Malhar’s backbone. She cares for his child Moksh when his wife elopes. Taking up the role of a young mother would have certainly been difficult, but she pulled it off with finesse.
