Dev DD 2, The Married Woman, Upcoming ZEE5 Shows That Will Explore The Concept Of ‘Forbidden Love’

In September 2020, ZEE5 released an anthology of four short films, called ‘Forbidden Love’. Apart from being romantic thrillers, two of the films in the anthology revolved around unconventional love stories, which the society finds hard to accept. Unconventional love stories are still rare in the Indian entertainment industry. Although, after Forbidden Love, ZEE5 is giving us two more series which revolve around some similar love stories. Read on to know about them.

Forbidden Love gave us two amazing short films that revolved around different kinds of unconventional love stories. The first one, Arranged Marriage, starring Ali Fazal, Omkar Kapoor and Patralekha, talked about two men who are in a romantic relationship with each other and then one of them has to get married to a woman under pressure. The men still aim to continue their relationship, which leads to situations which are not in their favour.

The second one is Anamika, starring Pooja Kumar, Harsh Chhaya and Aditya Seal. Anamika revolves around the story of a married woman who finds the love she needs in the arms of a younger man, Ishaan.

Much like these stories, we are going to get two more unconventional love stories on ZEE5. The first one is the series Dev DD 2. A sequel to Dev DD, this series is a different take on the famous love-and-heartbreak story, Devdas. The Dev DD 2 trailer was recently released and it shows two love stories that break the societal norms. The first one is between the protagonist, Devika Dharam Dwivedi, a young girl in her 20s and Anurag, an older man, who is her best friend’s father.

We will also see another such romantic relationship in Dev DD 2, this one between two girls, Chandni and Radha. Chandni and Radha love each other and aspire to be together but the society is not ready to accept their relationship. The series will explore a lot more on these love stories. Dev DD 2 will premiere on ZEE5 on 20 February.

Another series with one such love story, that will release on ZEE5 on this International Women’s Day, is The Married Woman. Starring Ridhi Dogra and Monica Dogra in the lead roles, The Married Woman is set in 1992. The show will revolve around a woman, Aastha (Ridhi Dogra), who is married but finds her love and comfort in the company of another woman, Peeplika (Monica Dogra). The Married Woman, which is based on a groundbreaking novel, (A Married Woman, by Manju Kapoor), recently got its teaser.

This beautiful series will premiere on ZEE5 on 8 March.
