The horror of the casting couch is still prevalent in the film industry and even critically acclaimed stars have fallen prey to this evil reality. However, they did not give up, instead, they countered the evil with sheer fierceness and made it big in the industry. Here, we have curated a list of a few stars who have previously revealed their horrific incidents with the casting couch.
Rashami Desai
In a previous interview, Rashami Desai revealed that she had dealt with the casting couch during the initial years of her career. She identified a man namely Suraj who tried to take advantage of her and molest her. The actor did not disclose if he was a producer or a casting agent by alleged that she was just 16 when the perpetrator called her for an audition to molest her by spiking her drink.
Shilpa Shinde
Before entering in the TV industry, Shilpa Shinde did modelling and was also trying her luck in movies. It was at that time when Shilpa became a victim of the casting couch. The actor got out of the situation due to cleverness but it gave her anxiety. The actor said that she began eating a lot after the incident.

Aditi Rao Hydari
Actor Aditi Rao Hydari in a previous interview said, “When I came to Mumbai, I got work in 4 months. But after this, I had to face the casting couch. In those days I spent many nights crying. That was the worst time of my life. When I spoke against the casting couch, I did not get work for 6 months. It was a very difficult situation, but I did not give up. Although it took me some time to get out of it, I was able to get out of it”.
Richa Chadha
Fukrey fame Richa Chada had revealed that “A couple of times I did not get it. I was very young and stupid. Once a man came to me and said ‘we should have dinner’ suggestively but I was too naive to understand and I said I have already had dinner,’ and then he insisted. It has happened to me even after I was established as an actor. Given the outcome of #MeToo or what is happening today, this is stuff we have to navigate every day. I have managed to bypass it. I am sure I have lost a lot of projects because of this but that doesn’t matter”.
Radhika Apte
She had also opened about the horror of being offered a role in a Bollywood film, on the condition of being ‘okay sleeping with that person’. In a conversation with an online portal, Radhika revealed that she knows a lot of casting couch instances and also knew a number of people who have gone through it. Radhika said she laughed it off and said that she would not do such a thing and asked the man to ‘go to hell’.
Elli AvrRam
Elli AvrRam enunciated that “I had gone for a few meetings. I met these two directors who especially shaked my hand and scratched it with one of the fingers. After that meeting, I asked my friend about it. He was shocked and told me that he (director) wanted to sleep with me.”

Surveen Chawla
Actor Surveen Chawla who is known for her roles in Hate Story, Parched and more, has opened up about falling prey to casting couch not once but thrice. She said, “I faced casting couch thrice. There was a time I was told to accompany a film director for a recce and I was told, ‘I want to know every inch of your body’. I just started ignoring calls from then on.
Kalki Koechlin
Yeh Jawani Hai Dewaani star reportedly said that there was a time she was auditioning for a film and producer of the same, asked her on a date. Kalki added that she was seeing someone at that time and she refused to go with him. Post that, the Gully Boy actress never received a call from the production house about the role or the film.
