Cricket News: Cricketer Shahrukh Khan Opens Up On The Pressure Of Having a ‘Price Tag’ In IPL

Cricket and cinema have always been at the heart of India. People are either obsessed with movies or with the gentleman’s game, or sometimes both. And a conversation on Indian cricket would always remain incomplete without the Indian Premier League (IPL). The popular 20-20 tournament has had 13 seasons till now and continues to entertain cricket fans all across the globe. Yet again IPL has made it into headlines due to the 2021 auctions.

The one thing that grabbed everyone’s attention during the auction was the immense popularity of uncapped Indian players. These inexperienced players left their mark by performing well at the local tournaments which paved the way to their demand at the auctions. And Shahrukh Khan is among those popular uncapped players. Shahrukh was placed in Punjab King’s XI team after he was bought at a hefty price of 5.25 crore.

Recently, in an interview, the 25-year-old cricketer opened up about his views on being one of the costliest uncapped players. The cricketer also talked about his plans, prepping for the game ahead. Shahrukh was quoted saying, “We do have the pressure of being priced at a high cost and then to perform accordingly. But from my past experiences, playing for Tamil Nadu, I have learned to focus more on my skills and how I can perform well for my team.”

Further, when asked about the pressure of being the costliest player and performing in IPL, he said, “I am keeping that aspect out of mind now. I just want to focus on my game. The price tag does not matter, just want to perform well in IPL.”

Also, talking about the post-auction scenes, Shahrukh revealed that former Indian cricket legend Anil Kumble welcomed him to the team. While the training sessions are yet to begin, Shahrukh is all excited to be a part of IPL.
