Donga Trailer Review: Jyothika and Karthi’s performance in Jeethu Joseph’s intriguing drama makes this film a must watch!

The boundaries between various South Indian film industries are starting to blur out and we couldn’t be happier. Not only are actors crossing boundaries to make a universal appeal, but even the films are being made available for other audiences. Amongst a bunch of interesting films, we are glad to witness a 2019 Tamil marvel – ace filmmaker Jeethu Joseph’s 2019 drama, originally titled Thambi, is now available in Telugu as Donga!

Donga stars Tamil superstars and real-life Vadina-Mardi (sister-in-law and brother-in-law), Jyothika and Karthi with Sathyaraj, Nikhila Vimal, Sowcar Jansi, Anson Paul, Seetha, amongst other talented actors. The trailer spans a little over two minutes and gives us a gist of what we are walking in to. It opens with Parvathi talking about how Sarva is still fresh in her memory as if he never left her sight. But she is reminded by her father that he ran away from home 15 years ago. The trailer cuts to show us a hippie man in Goa, with long hair and tattoos. It is established clearly that he is the one who indulges in all that we are told to stay away from.

He shows up at Parvathi’s house and introduces himself as Sarva. Everyone starts to pamper him and feel better about having found their long lost son. But Parvathi’s cold treatment makes Sarva uncomfortable. The rest of the trailer shows glimpses of how Sarva could be an imposter who is trying to benefit from Parvathi’s rich and influential political family. Despite Parvathi’s pleas, her father takes Sarva as his heir to the party’s meetings. Of course, Sarva enjoys the attention and affection coming his way.

But with so much happening all at once, how will Parvathi find out the truth? Has Sarva really returned home or is he just an imposter benefiting from someone else’s misery? Find all the answers as you enjoy the full film on ZEE5, streaming now.
