An unidentified person, apparently a fan, attempted to assault actor Vijay Sethupathi at Bengaluru International Airport. However, the actor escaped this attempt unscathed and did not press charges either.

Celebrities often find themselves in strange situations. Actor Vijay Sethupathi found himself in one such situation at the arrival terminal of Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.

The strange incident where an unidentified man made a vain attempt to assault the actor, took place when Vijay Sethupathi and his team were at the airport having arrived there for the shoot of the upcoming premiere of MasterChef Tamil.

The video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media shows the actor and his group walking inside the terminal building of the airport when the unidentified person, who comes running, attempt to jump on the actor from behind.

The security personnel and the aides with the actor throw a protective ring around him immediately and drag the person away. This incident, according to a person close to the actor, took place in the early hours of November 3.

The person told media outlets that the unidentified person who was in an inebriated state was creating a scene, even before the incident. The actor and his team and the to-be-assailant argued and the former group walked away.

The unidentified person followed the actor and the group and tried to assault Vijay Sethupathi. Luckily, one of those with Vijay Sethupathi ended up taking the blow intended for the actor. Airport security intervened quickly, restrained the inebriated fan and removed the actor and his group safely from the airport.

The actor, unfazed by this unexpected turn of events, apparently did not press charges against the assailant. Sources at the airport also indicated that the unidentified person had approached the actor for a selfie, which Vijay Sethupathi refused after knowing the man’s condition. The actor’s assistant, who ended up taking the blow meant for the actor, post this refusal for selfie, had reportedly pushed the person aside.

People privy to the sudden and expected turn of developments also saw the airport security personnel and those from Bengaluru City Police step in to prevent the situation from taking an ugly turn. The video clip of the incident has gone viral on social media.
