Kareena Kapoor Khan Hits Back At Netizens Who Trolled Her For Hiking Her Fees To Play Sita; ‘Want To Be Respected’

Kareena Kapoor Khan said to Hindustan Times that, ”more people are talking about pay disparity in the industry now.” Further, the actress added, “It’s not about being a ”demanding” actress but, I want to be respected for my roles.”

Since the topic of the controversy was raised, reports from the above publication had suggested that the actress might take Rs 12 crores to appear in the epic film. She also spoke about the unequal paycheck that exists in Bollywood, saying, ”Just a few years ago, no one would talk about a man or woman actually getting equal pay in a movie. Now there are a lot of us being very vocal about it,” she told the Guardian. “I make it quite clear what I want and I think that respect should be given,” she added. “It’s not about being demanding, it’s about being respectful towards women. And I think things are kind of changing.”

However, It was reported by Bollywood Hungama that Kareena Kapoor had hiked her fees from ₹6-8 crore to ₹12 crores for the Sita film. The film would also require 8-10 hours of the actress’s time daily. On the professional front, Kareena Kapoor Khan will be seen in Aamir Khan’s movie Laal Singh Chaddha in which the actress will be seen playing the role of the female lead.
