It’s Prateik Babbar’s mother Smita Patil’s birth anniversary today. The actor shared a simple and a sweet wish for his mother on this special day. Prateik Babbar shared a black and white picture of his mother on social media wishing his mother and called her ‘superwoman’

Smita Patil, who was known for her contribution to the parallel cinema movement in the Eighties, died a few weeks after she gave birth to Prateik. She was just 31 when she breathed her last in 1986. She was a recipient of the fourth highest civilian honour of India, Padma Shri.

To date, people remember Smita Patil, the second wife of actor-politician Raj Babbar, for her versatile acting performances. ‘Manthan’, ‘Bazaar’, ‘Ardh Satya’, and ‘Waaris’ among others are some of Smita Patil’s memorable films.

In her span of career, Smita has acted in over 80 films and established herself as one of the leading actors in the industry. She was known for her grace, beauty and intellect and was considered a powerhouse of Bollywood. While her films such as Arth, Akrosh, and Mirch Masala Nishant.

Raj, was already married to Nadira. He met Smita Patil on the sets of Bheegi Palkein (1982). Later, in an interview, Raj Babbar had talked about his relationship with Smita Patil. He said that Smita entered his life unexpectedly. When he met Smita Patil for the first time, he realised there was depth to her character. She was generally very friendly and sought his advice once in a while. Gradually, they formed an intimate bond. Hus relationship with Smita was not the result of problems with Nadira – it just happened. Nadira was mature enough to understand my feelings. Juhi (second child) always loved being with Smita. The feeling was soon reciprocated and the two decided to get married.
