The Power

Though the latest release by actor-filmmaker, Mahesh Manjrekar is a distinct take on the 1972 American classic, The Godfather, The Power retains its originality with the intense love story surrounding the plot combined with the action-packed performance by Vidyut Jamwal. Set against a gangster/underworld backdrop, Devidas and Parveen fall in love with each other, but their happiness is short-lived as they get involved in a resentful conflict due to their warring families.

Director Manish Tiwary’s Indian adaptation of William Shakespeare’s romantic epic, Romeo and Juliet, was set amidst the sand mafia of modern-day Banaras. Two influential Banarasi families, Kashyaps and Mishras are at war with each other for the sand mafia trade, while their children Bachchi and Rahul, portrayed by Prateik Babbar and Amyra Dastur, fall for each other. What comes next is, of course, the rebel by the love birds.

Saudagar

The multi-starrer, Saudagar is centred around the rivalry between Veer Singh (Dilip Kumar) and Rajeshwar Singh (Raaj Kumar), two childhood friends who turned sworn enemies. What happens when their grandkids fall in love is what follows the plot. Saudagar is one of the most ideal examples of lovers affected by their families. It is also the film that gave the new generation a different way of declaring their love, by saying ‘ILU ILU‘.
