8 Times When Characters Either Lost Their Memories Or Faked Losing It In Zee TV Shows

Amnesia or memory loss is such a common way for TV show makers to further the plot or even thicken it. We have been seeing amnesia or selective memory loss as a way for villains to evade their crimes, supporting cast to forget the wrongdoings of villains and heroes and heroines to extend the tragedy in love stories. Memory loss has been one of the most dramatic yet effective tools to be used in Zee TV shows and here are some characters and their memorable amnesia sequences that really helped the plot of the show!

Mahesh Luthra in Kundali Bhagya

Mahesh Luthra (Navin Saini) is one of the most recent characters to succumb to this tool! He had discovered Sherlyn (Ruhi Chaturvedi) and Prithvi’s (Sanjay Gagnani) secret. He had also discovered Pawan’s secret and the reason behind his hatred for Malhotras. However, in an attempt to stop him from ruining their plans, Mahesh was pushed down the stairs by Sherlyn and was also injected with harmful medicines that kept him in a coma for so many months. While he regains his consciousness, he suffers from a stroke and faints because of the pressure on his mind. The doctor then tells the Luthras that Mahesh will not be able to retain his memory for long and hence, there are chances that Prithvi and Sherlyn’s secret will never get exposed on the show.

Abhi  in Kumkum Bhagya

In Kumkum Bhagya, memory loss made for a romantic gesture! At one point in the show, Pragya’s (Sriti Jha) life was in danger and there were killers who wanted to end her life. Abhi (Shabir Ahluwalia) hen used a fake memory loss as his shield to protect Pragya and save her life. While Pragya was heartbroken that her husband could not remember their life together, Abhi was faking his memory loss to keep her safe and take revenge on those planning to kill her. Later Pragya discovers that Abhi was only faking his memory loss!

But, Abhi actually really did lose his memory in one part of the show, a couple of years back. This was right after Bulbul had died and Pragya revealed Alia and Tanu’s true colours to Abhi. All was going well for the duo until Abhi met with an accident and lost his memory of one and half years. He could not remember Pragya or their wedding. Alia and Tanu took advantage of this and tried to get him to married to Tanu. Of course, he didn’t get married to Tanu even then.

Akshat in Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega

Akshat (Nishant Singh Malkhani) takes a very similar route as Abhi did in Kumkum Bhagya and fakes a partial memory loss. He shows up and pretends to have forgotten Guddan and his marriage with her. Instead, he remembers everyone else and hugs Angad warmly. The doctor advises everyone to not stress Akshat out as he is in a sensitive state. Guddan gets extremely worried and hurt as her husband doesn’t recognize her and Angad tries to take advantage of her. Angad and Durga are involved in an evil scheme and Akshat fakes his condition to uncover the truth and find out about the person who is helping Angad!

Janki in Kundali Bhagya

Janki, who works in Sarla’s house as a house help is a sweet addition to the Arora family. She loves them like her own family and she was hurt time and again by Prithvi and Sherlyn. When Janki discovered about Prithvi’s affair with Sherlyn, she vowed to stop them but the evil couple discovers her before she can meet anyone. After attempting to kill her multiple times, they finally get a sigh of relief when she suffers from amnesia.

Atharva regains his memory and wreaks havoc in Tujhse Hai Raabta

In Tujhse Hai Raabta, Atharva loses his memory for a couple of days but comes back in great condition. Kalyani (Reem Shaikh) and Malhar (Sehban Azim) use this new development to find Samapada and ask Atharva to scare her. Then Atharva sends Sampada a video message in which he blackmails her to come to him as they have done many things together and hence, they deserve the punishment together. This is all Kalyani and Malhar’s plan to find Sampada after they lose Rachit.

DD’s memory loss in Jamai Raja

DD (Achint Kaur) is a matriarch and her relationship with her daughter and her son-in-law is rocky in the beginning but she finally changes and becomes more accepting of them. Only then, she meets with an accident and falls into a state of coma. Sid (Ravi Dubey) tries to bring her out of a coma by recounting old incidents and calling the names that would annoy her. This works and she gets out of the coma but she still suffers from a memory loss and forgets that Roshni (Nia Sharma) and Sid are married. She only remembers Sid as Siddharth Kukreja and also goes back to her old ways of controlling everything and everyone in her life.

Sanam’s dramatic regaining of her memory in Qubool Hai

Sanam had lost her memory and gotten closer to Shaad while her love for Aahil remained hidden in the corner of her mind. But, in a very thrilling and dramatic sequence, after Aahil’s brakes are purposely messed with, Sanam and Aahil get into a car accident. This causes Sanam’s memory to come back! Aahil holds her in his arms and professes his love for her while crying. Sanam too then reciprocates as she finally remembers everything!

Pia’s memory loss in Kasamh Se

Pia (Roshni Chopra) who is supposed to be Bani’s (Prachi Desai) sister and a good character is inherently mean and selfish. She wants Mr Walia’s (Ram Kapoor) wealth and is happy being in his house. She plans a lot of ploys to trouble Bani and Mr Walia and when she is caught, she suffers from memory loss! She is obviously faking it to get away from her misdeeds. The makers made the viewers believe that Pia has really lost her memory until much later they reveal that she has only been acting all this while! This proves how cunning of a villain she was!
