Dev DD 2: Ahead Of Season 2, Here’s Everything You Need To Know About Devika’s Love Life

The classic romantic novel Devdas has had many different-yet-interesting cinematic versions and it is the essence of this story that keeps us rooted in its different versions. Similarly, Ken Ghosh’s modernized version Dev DD breaks the usual principles of storytelling followed in a romantic drama. The show had a female Devdas in the spotlight i.e Devika Dwivedi (Asheema Vardaan) and while revolving around her romantic relationships, the show also beautifully captures themes of homophobia, sexism, and other societal stereotypes.

The first season was highly appreciated by the masses as well as the critics. While the engaging storyline kept us glued to our screens, the bold performances by the actors added a much-needed entertaining side to the story. The show was crafted with beautiful moments from Devika’s journey of romance and how she deals with the complications in her life, while also dealing with the societal stereotypes. 

With the same cast, Dev DD is all set to entertain the audience with the second season with a fresh take on relationships. And ahead of its release, here’s taking a look at some interesting highlights from the first season. 

Devika’s “Perfect” Find

Devika is a rebel who does not agree with the stereotypes of a patriarchal society and she tries her best to prove her real worth. Her carefree attitude and strong comebacks make her a rebel in the story. And when she mirrors herself in Parth (Akhil Kapoor), she couldn’t stop herself from falling in love with him and eventually love seeps into Devika’s life.

However, when Parth’s hypocrite side comes to light i.e his imagery of a perfect “housewife” who never wards off from her “duties”, Devika becomes aware of the reality and her quest for a perfect find ends in a breakup.  

Maturity That Seeps In

Coping with her break-up, Devika falls into a drive of self-pity and alcoholism. And rising from her wounded love, Devika sets for Mumbai to accomplish her dreams. Dealing with the hardships of the city, she meets Anurag (Sanjay Suri) who turns out to be a knight for her, saving her from the cruel side of metro life.

Eventually, she falls in love with Anurag and they seem to share a loving bond in no time. While Devika believes that the maturity in her love life has finally seeped in, a new revelation leaves her in shock. Anurag turns out to be her best friend’s dad which builds up an engaging drama for the climax.

The Incomplete Love

Devika gets reunited with her family, the only person who truly supports and understands her is her dad. There’s a sweet conversation both father-daughter share talking about the duality in the society. And this first chapter full of unexpected drama in Devika’s life ends on a great note making her aware of reality.

Devika’s journey of romance has just begun and we will see her overcoming all the conflicts and rising as a new and changed persona altogether in the second season. So stay tuned for more drama and interesting twists in Devika’s life.
