Randeep Hooda is facing lots of backlash and criticism for his comment on Uttar Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Mayawati.

Randeep Hooda has been on the receiving end of a lot of trolling and backlash due to his comment on the Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati. Not only netizens but also many celebrities have come forwards and condemned the comment of Hooda.

The controversy started when a 43-second-long video of Randeep Hooda went viral on the internet recently, where he was found making an offensive comment about former CM Mayavati. The video was shot a few years ago and many social media users have labelled the comment as casteist and sexist. While some netizens are demanding the arrest of Randeep Hooda for his derogatory comment, others have said that Randeep should issue a public apology and accept his mistake so that the trolling stops. The hashtag #ArrestRandeepHooda was trending on Twitter for quite some time.

When a  Twitter user tagged actor Richa Chadha and asked her opinion about the comment, she wrote, ” Yes. It’s casteist too. Also, plz explain to the reason why you continue to ask ONLY women to apologise for their male colleagues while you pontificate on sexism.  Not holding my breath.” As a result of the backlash, Randeep Hooda has been removed from his position as the Ambassador of the Convention for the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals by the United Nations. In the statement released by the organisation, they have said, “The CMS Secretariat finds the comments made in the video to be offensive, and they do not reflect the values of the CMS Secretariat or the United Nations.”
