Gorkha Announcement: Akshay Kumar To Play Major General Ian Cardozo In Aanand L Rai’s Upcoming War Film

Akshay Kumar is the busiest actor in the Bollywood industry. The actor recently announced the release date of his much-anticipated film, Sooryavanshi. Akshay Kumar is keeping himself busy by featuring in back-to-back films. For yet another time, Akshay Kumar is joining hands with Atrangi Re and Raksha Bandhan producer Aanand L Rai. Akshay Kumar will feature in his upcoming film Gorkha.

Akshay Kumar took to his social media accounts to announce the film. Taking to his Instagram account the actor wrote, “Sometimes you come across stories so inspiring that you just want to make them. #Gorkha – on the life of legendary war hero, Major General Ian Cardozo is one such film. Honoured to essay the role of an icon and present this special film.”

The film is based on the life of Major General Ian Cardozo, a legendary officer of the Gorkha regiment of the Indian Army (5th Gorkha Rifles). The film will be helmed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will be essaying the role of the legendary war hero who fought in the wars of 1962, 1965, and most notably in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.

Producer Aanand L Rai also shared the poster of the film on his Instagram account. He while talking to a leading daily said that they are honored to bring the story of a legendary war hero, Major General Ian Cardozo whose name goes down in history for his immense courage in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. Aanand is also excited to work with Akshay again for the third time in a row.

Major General Ian Cardozo AVSM SM shared with a leading daily that he feels honored for this story to be told on the 50th anniversary of the 1971 war. It commemorates the courage and sacrifice of the armed forces of India. He is looking forward to working with Anand & Akshay as they bring this to life.
