With Shruti Haasan’s latest release, The Power here is a recalling the actress’ most versatile performances.

Shruti Haasan has been one of the most prominent actresses of the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu film industries. Making her debut as a child artist in her father, Kamal Haasan‘s film in 2000, she made her debut as the leading lady in 2009 in Bollywood. Soon, she became a noteworthy actress, bagging versatile roles in films. Read on to know about the actress and her journey in the Indian film industry. 

Shruti Haasan began her acting career as the leading actress with the 2009 Hindi film Luck, starring opposite Imran Khan. She then also began her career in the Telugu and Tamil industries. Her first role in a Tamil movie was in 7aum Arivu, opposite Suriya. The film was dubbed in Hindi as Chennai Vs China. Shruti Haasan gave a brilliant performance in her debut Tamil movie and became a favourite among the masses. It also earned her a Filmfare nomination for the Best Female Debut in South.

Shruti Haasan then went on to star in Tamil film Poojai, which was released as Himmatwar in Hindi. She also starred in Srimanthudu, a Telugu film, which was dubbed as The Real Tevar in Hindi. She received a lot of love and acclaim for both of these films.

One of the most prominent performances of Shruti Haasan came in the 2015 film, Welcome Back, opposite John Abraham. She delivered the comic role of her character, Ranjana, with perfection. After Shruti Haasan delivered this performance convincingly, she also starred in the film Behen Hogi Teri, opposite Rajkummar Rao.

In Behen Hogi Teri, Shruti was playing the role of a sweet and happy girl, journeying through the rom-com situation of her life. Her expressions and overall performance as Binny in Behen Hogi Teri was so convincing and loveable, it won everyone’s hearts.

Soon, Shruti Haasan showed her versatility, when she next appeared in the crime drama Yaara, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. She starred as Sukanya, the wife of a gang leader, who also worked as a student involved in political movements. Her portrayal of the stern yet a troubled and emotional woman was extremely effective. After seeing her as the bubbly girl in Behen Hogi Teri, her role in Yaara showed a different side of hers, indicating her versatility.

Shruti Haasan recently starred in a crime drama, The Power, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. Shruti Haasan’s character in The Power, Parveen, had a lot of depth. She was initially a happy girl, who was in love with her childhood friend and looked forward to a happy future. However, a tragic event led her to become a strong-willed and grim woman, who was not going to falter for a second to kill the person she loved, for her vendetta. Seeing her transformation in this film was extraordinary.
