Harnaaz Sandhu of India is crowned as the current Miss Universe, 21 years after Lara Dutta of India was titled Miss Universe in 2000. Ms. Sandhu presented India in Eilat, Israel, at the 70th Miss Universe 2021 pageant. The 21-year-old model from Punjab won the competition, beating out Nadia Ferreira of Paraguay and Lalela Mswane of South Africa. Andrea Meza, previous Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico, honored Ms. Sandhu with the tiara.
Just two Indians have claimed the Miss Universe crown before the Chandigarh-based model: actresses Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000. Many Bollywood superstars flocked to social media to send warm congratulations and wishes to the winner.
Recently Kangana Ranaut posted a story on her Instagram account with Harnaaz’s picture and in the caption, she mentioned that it is such a piece of delightful news by congratulating her. Shilpa Shetty also took to social media to publish a photo of the model, claiming that the crown now has a new queen and has returned to India after a long 21-year absence. Harnaaz was then praised for her accomplishment.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas, a global icon, used her social media account to congratulate the recipient of the Miss Universe title. Priyanka uploaded a video of the amazing occasion when Harnaaz was named Miss Universe winner on her Instagram account.
Kareena Kapoor Khan also congratulated the winner of the Miss Universe pageant. She, too, posted the very same video on her Instagram account and penned a passionate remark about how thrilled she was that an Indian girl had won the title. Kareena congratulated the freshly crowned, Miss Universe

It was a fierce competition with around 80 participants taking part. Harnaaz won the crown for the country by defeating the other 79 girls. Ms. Sandhu, who began her pageant career at the age of 17, had earlier won Miss Diva 2021, Femina Miss India Punjab 2019, and even finished in the Top 12 at Femina Miss India 2019.
