At the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night, the Mare of Easttown star Kate Winslet, beat off Michaela Coel, Cynthia Erivo, Elizabeth Olsen, and Anya Taylor-Joy for the award

Kate Winslet is one such actress that springs to mind when we think of elegance, beauty, versatility, and performing. The actress took home an award for outstanding actress in a limited series or a movie at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards for her work in Mare of Easttown, demonstrating her acting prowess. Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You), Cynthia Erivo (Genius: Aretha), Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision), and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit) were among the other nominees. This is Winslet’s fourth Emmy nomination and second win in this category, following her win for the film Mildred Pierce in 2011.

The Role

Kate Winslet stars as police investigator Mare in Mare of Easttown. She investigates the abduction of a teenage mother in her Philadelphia suburb. As a small-town Pennsylvania detective investigating a murder case while dealing with her own personal targedy. Despite the fact that it was intended to be a limited series, Winslet told reporters that a second season could be possible.

The winning speech starrted with Kate winslet appreciating motherhood reminding us that, beneath her Hollywood star persona, she, too, is a mother first and foremost. She also complimented her mother and stated and joyfully said, look, eveyone is standing for me, mother. While accepting the honour, the 45-year-old received a standing ovation. Winslet then turned to thank her three children when winning the award and showered love on them in her speech.

The Oscar winner praised everyone who tuned in during a time when the world was dealing with the coronavirus and gave them something to think about. The Reader actress also thanked the show’s creator, Brad Inglesby, and stated that she is standing there because of him. Brad is the one who made a middle-aged, flawed mother, and you made every mother feel validated, she remarked. The actress thanked her hubby at the end of her remarks.
