Mai Hero Boll Raha Hu walks on similar lines of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai and its sequel. Here are all the parallels between the gangster sagas.

Mai Hero Boll Raha Hu on ZEE5 is the latest crime drama series, which stars Parth Samthaan, Arslan Goni, Patralekhaa, and Chandan Roy Sanyal in prominent roles. The show is set in Mumbai in the 1990s and revolves around the lives of gangsters who ruled the underworld of that time. The show walks on the similar lines of the gangster films Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai and its sequel, Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Dobaara!

Mai Hero Boll Raha Hu follows the story of a young guy, Nawab (Parth Samthaan), who is from Bareilly, and comes to Mumbai and gets involved in the world of crime and underworld. He soon rises to the top of the chain and becomes one of the most powerful kingpins of the city’s underworld. When Nawab is new in the underworld, one of the most powerful gangsters, Mastaan (Chandan Roy Sanyal) and his younger brother, Lala (Arslan Goni) take him under their wing, giving him a chance to excel at their criminal business.

Similar to Nawab’s was the story of Shoaib Khan (Emraan Hashmi) in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. In the film, we also see Shoaib being a young lad with big ambitions in his youth, who is taken under his wing by the ruling gangster Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgn) and is given a chance to rise in the business.

Even the film’s sequel, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara, follows a similar storyline. This time, Shoaib Khan (Akshay Kumar) is the ruling gangster, and Aslam (Imran Khan) is the guy working under him, and eventually becomes close to him.

Mai Hero Boll Raha Hu also narrates the story of how Nawab wanted to rule the city, its sea trades and smuggling business, and the Bollywood industry. Nawab was also a mastermind and cunning person, who played a double game and aimed to overthrow the people who made him big and rule in their place. Just like him, Shoaib Khan in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai also wanted to rule the smuggling business, and he also played a double game with his idol and mentor, Sultan Mirza, eventually overthrowing him to rule the underworld.

Nawab drew even more similarities to the lives of Shoaib Khan and Aslam Khan from Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobaara when he fell in love. Nawab was a married person, who fell in love with another girl, Laila (Patralekha), who was a struggling actress in Bollywood. He fell head over heels in love with her and was ready to sacrifice everything to be with her. Sadly, his love clashed with that of his senior, Lala, who was also in love with Laila, leading to a clash between the their egos.
