The postponement of the release of the first look has only created that element of suspense that should have been limited to reel but has since spilled over to the real

Drushyam 2, Tollywood’s much-awaited sequel has hit a minor snafu, at least this is what one believes. Suresh Productions, makers of this film – starring Venkatesh Daggubati – on Saturday had promised to release the first look of the much-awaited crime thriller on September 20 at 10 am.

However, this was not to be. The production house in a tweet just an hour before the scheduled first look release apologised for the delay, due to what it maintained was unforeseen circumstances. Extending this suspense for all concerned, the makers have not yet announced the fresh date for the launch of this first look, which will only add to the growing excitement that surrounds this film.

But more than making up for this disappointment, the banner later tweeted that the film had received a ‘U’ certificate from the Censor board. The success of the first part of this film had created enormous interest among the fans. The tweet only pulled the plug on their heightened expectations.

Notwithstanding the various constraints that the pandemic posed, Suresh Productions completed the entire shoot in April. This was a remarkable feat since the film went on the floors in February this year. And there is no inkling about the release of this film either. The postponement of the release of the first look has only created that element of suspense that should have been limited to reel but has since spilled over to the real.

The only comforting news for the fans is that Jeethu Joseph, who directed the original in Malayalam, has taken up the responsibility of directing Drushyam 2 as well. This should ensure that the viewers get the same fast-paced narration that the Malayalam original starring Mohanlal did in 2013.

It is a simple straightforward story of a devoted husband (Venkatesh Daggubatti) who keeps himself a step ahead of the police at all times in ensuring that they have no sniff of a murder that his wife and elder daughter commit to protecting the family honour. Sripriya had directed Drushyam that starred Kruthika Jayakumar, Esther Anil, Venkatesh Daggubatti, and Meena. Jeethu Joseph has retained this very cast in the sequel. Suresh Babu is the producer of this sequel through the Suresh Productions banner.
