The wait is over! Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn have finally announced the release date of their much-anticipated film RRR. The film, which is helmed by SS Rajamouli, also stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the lead roles. Read on to know when the film is slated to hit the theatres

Finally, the release date of Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn’s most-anticipated film RRR has been announced. Ever since Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced the re-opening of theatres from October 22, makers have been announcing the release dates of their pending films left, right and centre. Well, the line of announcement of movie releases was kick-started by filmmaker Rohit Shetty, when he announced the arrival of his most-anticipated film Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn in the lead roles. But, the latest ones to announce the release date of their film are RRR makers.

Two days after revealing Gangubai Kathiwadi’s release date, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn announced the arrival date of SS Rajamouli’s directorial RRR. The film that stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles will hit the screens on January 7, 2022. Yes, this is exactly a day after Alia Bhatt-led Gangubai Khatiawadi will arrive in theatres. The filmmakers announced the release date via a new poster that features all 4 lead actors, for the first time.

In the first look, Alia Bhatt looks ethereal as Sita, while Ajay Devgn sports a freedom fighter’s look, Jr NTR is seen sporting a black shirt, while Ram Charan carries a Police uniform. They revealed in the caption box that the India’s biggest action drama will release in theatres on Jan 7, next year worldwide. Speaking about RRR’s biggest clash with Gangubai Kathiawadi, the film, which is helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is based on the inspiring life of Gangubai Kothewali, ‘madam’ of a brothel in Mumbai’s Kamathipura. The film is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens Of Mumbai.

On the work front, Alia Bhatt will next be seen in Brahmastra alongside boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and others. That apart, she also has Darlings and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani in the pipeline. Ajay Devgn, on the other hand, Mayday, Maidaan, Thank God and Drishyam 2 in his pipeline.
